Weekend Wrap Up!

Happy Tuesday Notebook readers! Sorry I wasn't writing yesterday but I had off from school!

 

This past weekend boy and I had a great weekend filled with helping my parents, to attending a wedding I helped with, and meeting a child I have been donating to through our Christ Child Posey Guild.

 

 

Here is the fence at my parents house boy helped my Dad with over Saturday!

 

 

 

The pickets we helped paint last weekend will be going up soon!

 

Saturday evening we had a wedding in Bethesda. Anne Marie, who I used to work with, and her hubbie Mike got hitched and had their reception at the Rock Creek Mansion. It was so fun because I had helped with the tablescapes, sewing the runners!

And Sunday I was able to meet a young boy who had been adopted by his cousin. Our Christ Child Guild helped furnish their new apartment, so it was exciting to meet Wayne for the first time!

 

Here he is with my girlfriend, Anne, who was his social worker! Made. My. Weekend!

Friday Finds...Mostly Monograms!

I saw these chairs and fell in love! What an easy detail to spruce up a dining chairs!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

AND I just found similar pulls on clearence for $2!

 

 

 

 

 

 



Picket Picket

I was asked to help spray the new replacement pickets for my parents house this week

and lets just say it is time consuming. We started by rolling them but I was confident spraying them would be SO much more fast and efficient...to say the least I was wrong!

 

 

 

the pickets had a sanded side and a rough side when we first inspected them in their natural finish

 

 

we decided to use a stain that would give the pickets a much longer lasting coat in the elements!

 

 

here they are with two coats of spray...which was clearly not cutting it!

 

 

even with a 25pd air compressor this job was better off being rolled for one reason alone....the amount of stain the spray gun was taking up compared to the amount of stain it took to roll on and get into all the uneven parts of the wood picket

 

 

so many pickets...but once all the warn out pickets are replaced it will be back to new!

Weekend Wrap Up!

Hope all your Notebook readers had a wonderful weekend! I kept busy with a baby shower and a crab feast birthday party! It was nice to see friends and family!

this center piece was so adorable made out of floral foam and button mums made to look like children's blocks!

 

 

after a crazy storm in Washington Saturday we were able to eat some delicious crabs celebrating my bestie, Claire's brothers birthday! Here they are together under the much needed pop up tents!

 

 

these mallets were the party favor! love the personalized touch to them!

 

 

had to include this one...granted there were many children running around Saturday but let's just say none of them enjoyed the kiddie pool!

Touch of Herringbone

I am so excited to share this next project! I was hired to paint this very sweet cabinet that has been in my clients family for years! She wants to use it in her nursery for storage. Unfortunately they do not know the sex of the baby, but both her and her husband love navy...after she gave me free rein I have decided to go with a herringbone print sprayed with a deep navy. I am also adding a large S for their last name onto the front cabinet door.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Love the way it turned out! I'm adding the large S initial to the front of the cabitnet door tonight!

The double runner!

As I posted yesterday I have been working on some runners for a DC wedding next weekend! Her fiance and her wanted a unique and custom feel to their wedding tablescapes so what better way then to pick your own fabric and add your new monogram!

 

 

Here are the monogrammed burlap runners that will have the chevron runner overlay on top!

 

 

 

making your own stencils are easy...just print out the size and font letter you like then cut it out, trace it onto a file folder, then cut it out again and you have your own stencil!!!

 

we both liked the "not so perfect" finished to the T...it adds some character to each runner!

 

Can't wait to see it all come together!

 

Runners to the alter!

I am creating some chevron coral print runners for a friends wedding. This DIY is simple and will add a custom touch to each of her tables!

 

 

 

I used a 1 inch seam along each of the sides with white thread

Weekend Wrap Up!

Hey Notebook readers! Hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! My boy and I decided not to fight the traffic to the beach and had a mixed weekend in DC and Phillie!

 

 

 

 

Friday we went to my boy's brothers football game in VA. He coaches a local high school team. Here I am with his daughters, Sydney and Hailey.

Saturday we made our way up to Phillie to help one of my besties and her husband, Claire and Dan, paint their nursery and set up some cribs...they are having twins!

Saturday night Claire and Dan had some friends over for a BBQ...here I am with Emily, Claire, and Jackie! So fun to catch up!
