DIY ALERT! Acylic Rod and Greek Key Finials!!!

So I was super pumped for this DIY...acrylic curtain rod with greek key finials. who would ask for anything more? Check out how I got from a bunch of parts to a one of a kind curtain rod...oh and the panels I sewed are perfection(maybe not the seam but the print of them :))

I used square wooden dowels and cut them 2" and the smaller turn pieces 1"

I then added Gorilla glue and put a little tape around them until the glue set

for the finial ends I used 1 1/4" PVC pipe end caps. I drilled a hole then a screw into the end cap

I then used painters tape to smooth out the screw ridges

I then used the Gorilla glue again to place the greek key shaped finial onto the end cap

Here is the fabric and acrylic rod I purchased from US Plastic. I purchased a hollow acrylic rod for $53 for two 6ft...such a good deal! The fabric is Dwell for $21 a yard from fabric.com

Check it out!

Yes the ceiling in the guest is green! More detail on this room to come!!!

Tarva Hack!!!

So pumed to share my lastest IKEA hack...Boy and I needed more storage in the bedroom at our new house and we didn't really have the $ to go buy a super nice dresser but I have great experience with the IKEA tarva which is sturdy and has a good amount of storage with 6 drawers.

Check out the before and after!

Just love it! I used Peacock Tail from Behr and added $2.98 gold pulls from our local big box...so for about $160 we have a brand new unique dresser!

Happy DIYing!!!

DIY ALERT! Add some detail to any space!

Good morning Notebook readers! I hope everyone is about geared up for tis memorial day weekend! Today I have a DIY alert my mom and I completed this past week at Boy and I's new house!

We wanted to add some detail in our family room but our budget is tight. I had seen a tall char rail detail in PINTEREST so I did some research and check out what we did!

We used furring stripes from our local big box store for $1.32 for an 1" x 3" x 8' piece. Our room is 61 linear feet...so we accomplished this room for under $75!!! We used a nail gun, provided by my awesome father in law :)

We started with the top if the chair rail which I wanted it hit underneath the window sill.

Once we finished the chair rail we used a level to hang the vertical furring stripes and then the actual chair rail lip, which is an added detail and will be able to hold some picture frames.

Check it out!!! We painted the bottom half a crisp white and the top half Revere Pewter which I love as a greige color!

This ended up being a three day project...we caulked the wood prior to painting to fill I any cracks showing. Just love a good project and an amazing outcome!!!

Have a great Thursday!

Bangin Banister!

SOoooooo Boy and I have slowly but surely checking off items on the list before moving...yes that's right we bought a house!!! Cant wait to start the before and afters...well here is the first! '

The banister are oak and just a bit dull for me...so I hit them with some navy paint, abyss ben moore that is, and the rails white!

I'm in love! They work well with the wall color  we choose, which is a gray-stonington gray ben moore!

the rug is getting ripped OUT...I started to pull it up but Boy had a good point to wait until after we move in...then paint the stairs which will go navy and the raisers white!

one more coat to go on the rails but im a happy camper now seeing this all come together!

HAPPY THURSDAY!!!!

get your geo on!

Just love how these seat and bench cushions turned out for  client!

the before was a cute navy gingham but it had some wear and tear to it...

check out the after! love the orange geo print! the client also wanted to add ties instead of Velcro because the Velcro was constantly pulling away from the chair causing seat cushions to fly!

Here is the bench seat and back cushion and the chair cushions all installed :))) Just love it! They brighten up the room so much!
