It's Black, It's Gold

I have had these Pottery Barn frames for at least 5 years and it was time for a change! All it took was taking them apart, laying them out, and spraying them with Rust-o-leum pure gold! Check out this DIY!

great metallic spray for any project!

now i have lovely artwork in my studio space! kidding! I just wanted to show you how I spray the frames...if you have a grubby space in your garage aim to spray there. Hang a nail which you will place the frames over to frame. It gives you more angles without having to hold/touch the wet frame!

Room in a day!

I had off yesterday from school and instead of cranking out projects for my clients I decided to dedicate the day to our living room.

Boy was at work so it gave me a day to get it done. Here are the before and afters! So happy!

I painted the wall a crisp white and sprayed the frames gold. I also taped out the hardware and sprayed them all gold to make it look more uniform. The project took four hours, but it was worth it!

Boy was happy to see the transformation too and waking up this morning and walking out to something fresh and light made my day!

Color is beauty!

My family friend who I work with in the summer time had her wedding featured on SMP a couple weeks ago and I think everyone should check it out! Her photographer, Dominique Fierro is AMAZING. Head over and check out her site!

This wedding was the definition of color. From painted bridesmaid dresses to the custom painted furniture this wedding had personality and was perfectly unique for the couples special day!

Weekend Wrap!

This weekend I threw a baby shower for one of my best friends, Emily. We had all the girl in town, which was my favorite part. It was so nice to have everyone together!

I used green and yellow for the theme because Emily has notfouond out what she is having!

I created a mocktail for all the pregnant woman at he shower called the Elphick(Emily's last name) Epidural. It was a hit! 3/4 fresca, 1/4 sprite, watermelon and catelope balls, and if you can add a splash of white wine! Yum!

I purchased and assembled these paper straws off Etsy. It is a cute, inexpensive way to add your theme colors onto the table.

Love these cookies! A friend from high school has a small compnay called Kristina's Confections, check out out site under the Notebook sponsors!

Love the way it all came together!!!

And so was Emily!

The mocktails went quick with this crowd!!!

Here is Aileen and Therese with two of the many babies present Saturday!

A late night group shot! I threw the shower from 3-6 so it was fun for all of us to hang out afterwards! Miss you ladies already!

Friday Finds...My Big Girl Pants!

With the upcoming Susan G. Komen walk in October I wanted the Notebook readers to check out this inspirational blog. It is written by a family friend who honestly is one of the strongest woman I know. As her cousin says "if you ever need motivation to get a nagging chore done or to get off the couch to go for a run," you need to check out this blog!!!

My Big Girl Pants

Bridget is an amazingly strong young woman who has not only given inspiration to those around her but also many other young girls suffering from cancer. On this Friday, let's celebrate her and head over to the Susan G. Komen website to donate!

We are cheering you on Bridget!!!

Bringing contemporary to a 70s piece!

I have been working with a client for a couple months now. Slowly but surely we have been crossing off big items off her "to do". Here is one piece that has reminded me once again that paint goes a LONG way!
My client's biggest request was to have her home in tip top shape before Thanksgiving...since she is hosting her whole family(and she is one of five siblings!) So the dining room table is a must to finish!

Her grandmother's 70's style table needed a new life

here is the table about to be primed...see ya later brown and yellow

finding the original leaves to her grandmothers table was an awesome find

 TIP:
remember if you are ever thrifting for a dining room table remember don't forget to ask for the leaves

check out the difference with just a coat of primer! It is now able to stand on its own in any contemporary home!

Weekend Wrap Up!

Happy Tuesday Notebook readers! Sorry I wasn't writing yesterday but I had off from school!

This past weekend boy and I had a great weekend filled with helping my parents, to attending a wedding I helped with, and meeting a child I have been donating to through our Christ Child Posey Guild.

Here is the fence at my parents house boy helped my Dad with over Saturday!

The pickets we helped paint last weekend will be going up soon!

Saturday evening we had a wedding in Bethesda. Anne Marie, who I used to work with, and her hubbie Mike got hitched and had their reception at the Rock Creek Mansion. It was so fun because I had helped with the tablescapes, sewing the runners!

love the oversized bucket of babies breath!

the runners!

loved the coral and navy theme running throughout!

Here is Anne Marie and I!

my boy and I

And Sunday I was able to meet a young boy who had been adopted by his cousin. Our Christ Child Guild helped furnish their new apartment, so it was exciting to meet Wayne for the first time!

Here he is with my girlfriend, Anne, who was his social worker! Made. My. Weekend!

and ps Anne's apt is AMAZING! It will be featured here soon!

Picket Picket

I was asked to help spray the new replacement pickets for my parents house this week
and lets just say it is time consuming. We started by rolling them but I was confident spraying them would be SO much more fast and efficient...to say the least I was wrong!

the pickets had a sanded side and a rough side when we first inspected them in their natural finish

we decided to use a stain that would give the pickets a much longer lasting coat in the elements!

here they are with two coats of spray...which was clearly not cutting it!

even with a 25pd air compressor this job was better off being rolled for one reason alone....the amount of stain the spray gun was taking up compared to the amount of stain it took to roll on and get into all the uneven parts of the wood picket

so many pickets...but once all the warn out pickets are replaced it will be back to new!

Happy DIYing!

Weekend Wrap Up!

Hope all your Notebook readers had a wonderful weekend! I kept busy with a baby shower and a crab feast birthday party! It was nice to see friends and family!

love this idea to personalize the food table at a baby shower!

this center piece was so adorable made out of floral foam and button mums made to look like children's blocks!

after a crazy storm in Washington Saturday we were able to eat some delicious crabs celebrating my bestie, Claire's brothers birthday! Here they are together under the much needed pop up tents!

these mallets were the party favor! love the personalized touch to them!

had to include this one...granted there were many children running around Saturday but let's just say none of them enjoyed the kiddie pool!

Hope you all have a great week!
Many projects to come this week from McNamara Design!
