Friday Finds...Gorgeous Shiny Things!

I found this blog the other day and what can I say...WOW she is talented! Introducing to all my Notebook readers...this is Danika Herrick out of Boston, MA! Her blog is Gorgeous Shiny Things! I wanted to share one of her talented DIY projects! Here is her hand painted trellis wall!

So here is how it is done...

Find your inspiration, pattern or design you are obsessed with, in my case it was Quadrille's China Seas Trellis Background, or just make one up if you are super talented. Next map it out and figure out your scale. I guessed at the scale and decided I would make the square panels roughly 12" wide. After studying the image I found online for hours and mapping it out in my head, I taped the sections out and free handed the pattern with a Sharpie. The good thing about this trellis is that it was rather loose so it hid my mistakes. Another trick is to draw your design out and have it blown up to scale at a copy shop. That way you can just trace it and it is scaled out to your liking.

AMAZING!!! What a great idea and an easy DIY! If you can't draw out a pattern ask a friend! Tape, paint, and enjoy!

Frame + Foto of the Day!

Fun and funky is what comes to mind for the frame of the day! Which fits this foto of the day perfectly! Here are some of my girls, Grace, Claire, and my sister Molly, who came to celebrate my 31st birthday over the weekend! Great times! Thanks for coming ladies!!!



DIY ALERT!

Love love love this idea! I found it on Pinterest through a blog Ash Bee Designs! What a simple and easy way to keep your garage, shed, or basement organized year round! You could apply this same idea to your cleaning supplies!

All you need is a piece of PVC pipe, some screws, and an open wall! If you aren't the best at cutting using a circular saw...try asking a friend who is! You will be organized in no time!

Cool striped frame! But LOVE this picture! Here is Meg, Nevi, and Mary Jane rocking it at a wedding this past year! These girls and I have been friends for years and look forward to more awesome times like this one!!!

Take three unique chairs to create a bench!

Using a cut out piece of plywood you could create a full bench upholstered and painted!

Love this lattice work on the wall...what a fun DIY using 1 x 2 pieces of lumber! This is a must try for me!

Frame + Foto of the Day

The frame of the day is an inexpensive set of frames for $25 that will go nicely with the foto of the day! This is my best friend Claire and her husband Dan enjoying an afternoon over memerial day weekend in LA for their cousins wedding! Can't wait for them to come down to the beach!

Map it!

I wanted to share this awesome project my Mom has been working on as a gift for my father. We found this faux rattan tray coffee table on Wayfair for under $100. I'd leave the link but they are no longer selling it.

The idea was to take a nautical map of where my father grew up and cut it to fit into the tray. Check out the results prior to an apoxie finish!

Not only is this a great table for the beach house but it holds personal memories that will be a great conversation piece in the living room!
