Fabric Spray...Who would have known!

This Pinterest pic has blown up so I had to share...check out this DIY by using fabric spray on an old piece!

I mean just amazing what a little fabric paint spray and a coat of paint will do to improve this piece!!!

Today I'm exited to share this fun new project in a children's playroom! The client wants the pitched ceilings on their third floor to be transformed into a multi-color circus tent!

I'm obsessed...

The final product of my gray/white washing job for a client has made my day.You know when something just goes smooth, no major touch ups or in life trial and errors. Check em out!

I wrote about the first two passes of this bench here but it was a pass of a brown wash then a light gray wash...I used a faux glaze that was 1 part paint to 3 parts glaze. They sell it at your local hardware store...after applying thin light brush strokes of this mixture I used a rag to wipe away the excess paint...layer by layer it began to look like the finish product above! Clients happy I'm happy! And she loved it! Happy to make a special nook or bench in a home that much more cozy.

This brick was just not the look client wanted in her family room...we debated over how dark or light we wanted the white wash, which was a mixture of 2 parts semi-gloss white paint to 1 part water mixed well. Same approach you brush on the mixture and then use a rag to wipe down the excess. 

Love how this fireplace turned out...now only if Boy and I had one of these...Oh the the possibilities

Wash it!

A client hired me to brown/gray wash their entryway bench...the client wanted it to pop so we applied a couple coats starting with a brown wash, then a light grey pass, and I will be applying one more with a straight up gray...excited to see the progress!!!

Weekend Wrap Up!

Boy and I had such a fun weekend with a BBQ on Friday at the apt and a going away party to one of my deariest friends in the whole wide world- Raegan. She is moving to England to start a new chapter in her life and we couldn't be more proud. Her final bush was a blast...check out some pics!

School out for Summer! Schools out Forever!

I can honestly say school is out forever! Today is my last year teaching students with Autism. After 10 years of teaching self-contained special education I am thrilled to start a new adventure in my life. I will be opening a studio in Kensington, MD where I will let all the creative juices flow on a daily basis. More details to come!

 

But for now...summer time!

So pumped about this craigslist find! As I said yesterday I have been all over craigslist looking for items for one of my clients and check it...I found this awesome faux bamboo table! Picking it up friday!!! Wooohoooo going to be a great one for either our dining room or this may just have to be my new oversized desk for my studio!

Peacock Comeback?

A client of mine has been on the hunt for a peacock chair...we have found a ton on craigslist and here is the one we bought for $100. What a fresh coat of paint and new upholstered cushion will do! So excited for the outcome!

Textile Tuesday!

Love it when I get a fun and custom job having to do with textiles! One of my girlfriends has a tough space in her rental that includes a unique bay window. She wanted custom blackout drapes made with a greek key trim...check it out!

 

 

 

as you can see the counter top cuts off the window or any drapery from falling nicely

 

 

I started with a white cotton blend, measured out the height and width

 

 

then added the blackout panels

 

 

and finally the trim!

 

 

can't wait to see them installed this afternoon!

 

Weekend Wrap Up!

Well this weekend was a blast! We had one of our family friends weddings in DC with a gorgeous reception to follow at Columbia Country Club. The decor was amazing! Just loved it!
