This frame is adorable! Love it so much and it will look great with the foto of the day...here is Austin and Erin! Austin is like my brother and we always love spending time with them. Here is a great shot from the Chili cook off over the weekend!

Tidy it Up Tuesday

I have recently started a small project...re-organizing my mothers work space as a gift to her for her 60th birthday! One thing we have in common is the amount of magazines we have. I often save magazines for many reasons: an inspirational picture, a recipe, or a great DIY project. I have my magazines organized now its time to start my Mom's! I wanted to do a little research to find the best way to organize hers!



You can organize by theme (food, decor, etc), you can organize by date/issue, or you can organize by the rooms in your house. Buy some binders or magazine organizers and get started organizing your life!

I'm so pumped for this piece! I'm painting it white with nickel brushed knobs...

I am going to paint the inside an anitque red and spray adhesiving a vintage american flag to the back...more pics to come!



Weekend Wrap Up...Chili Cook Off!

Over the weekend we had a Chili Cook Off to attend out in VA. It was hosted by a dear family friend, Matt, who hosted 14 other contestants besides boy and I. Matt's parents are best friends with my parents and now the second generation comes together once in a while to relax and catch up. We rocked my Nana's crock pot and made some unforgettable turkey chili!

Ride Home

I saw this idea and fell in love! What a creative use of an old bike or a vintage bike you want to display. This got me thinking...what else would I be able to use under a vanity like this?

Rehab complete!

Final product! Love the way this chair has turned out. The cream and brown antique finish with a navy burlap cushion...new coat of paint $3.50, new fabric for the seat $2.50, and the thrift store chair $10...so for right around $15 bucks this chair has a new life!

The frame of the day is an awesome reclaimed piece! The foto of the day is of two out of the three Cullen girls, Aileen and Kelly...they are great family friends of ours and love love love spending time with them!

Tidy Up Tuesday!

Um I love this idea! Nate Berkus' show is the best. He gives you so many amazing ideas like this one to help organize your picture frames. It is an easy DIY project using old coat hangers to create a picture frame hook system! You could spray paint these old wire coat hangers any color to give your framed wall a touch of color!

Friday Finds...Maya Jade Creations!

I found Maya Jade on Etsy looking for objects that could be grouped together over a mantle. I love how creative and fun these antlers are!!! Check 'em out!

I had custom green, navy, and white ones made for a client! Now I think I am going to have to purchase one for myself!



Frame + Foto of the Day



I know I have been slacking on the Frame + Foto of the Day...Sorry! Let me jump start back into it with a pic I just found on my Dad's computer. This pic is of my sister Molly, my sister Cailtin with her boyfriend Chalke, and then me and boy! I love this pic! It is from my Nana's 80th birthday party up in good ol' Baltimore.

The frame of the day will make this foto pop! And for $10 you can't beat the price! Perfect for an upcoming Valentine's day gift!

Cream color with a touch of burlap

These chairs are coming along...tonight I will be upholstering the seat cushions, that's if my batting gets in...I love the cream and navy combo! Two of these bad boys will have a large T, for my clients last name,  monogrammed on the seat cushion for the heads of the dining room table. I will also be adding accents of brown to give the chair a more antique feel...more pics to come!

DIY couch!

I fell in love with this idea and can't wait to use it on a project...a wood pallet couch! The simplicity and light on the pocket cost of materials makes this an easy DIY for the fam! Remember endless possibilities with paint color...I'm thinking a kelly green!

Also you would be shocked to see how many wood pallets they are giving away on craigslist...let me know if any Notebook readers decide to complete a project using them!

Headboard for hire

I have been hired to complete a headboard for a client. It is going to be navy diamond tufted one! We choose a navy fabric since she has white linens it will really pop!



I made this edesign board for the client, who is a close family friend and one of my biggest supporters!

We are using this three inch foam that you can get at any local fabric store, but I found this roll online for a good price. Definitely check out multiple stores before purchasing the foam, which can be pretty pricey, some stores have great sales that will save you $ in the pocket!

The buttons will be covered in the same navy fabric...you can choose from all size buttons to cover to custom your headboard!

Rehabbing!

I am currently rehabbing some dining room chairs for a client who wanted four sets of two to make up her set of chairs. They will be primed and painted a cream with dark brown accents to give it an antiqued look. The seat will be reupholstered in a dark navy burlap!

As you can see in the picture I am working in a new space! I turned the back room, which is like a sun room, into my new studio! It has been working out great! Come home and work is right there...making life a lot easier.

Check out these amazing needle point belts! Branson grew up in DC, his mother taught at my high school Georgetown Visitation, and now he has become a great success through Smathers & Branson! I love their designs and creativity behind their business!

I just got a rack of Christmas presents from them from a shot gun shell dog collar for my buddies dog Goose to a WV belt for my boy!

Touch It Up!

I am working on an apartment for a guy friend of mine in Adams Morgan, a cool neighborhood in DC. He bought his first place in the Clydesdale building and has done ALL the reno himself and with the help of many family and friends!

He has called me in for the last touches, paint color, kitchen backsplash, ceiling fans, wood stain color, and much more. Here are some of the items that will pull this finally done reno into high gear...well actually a very livable space!

So here is a mash up board of all the fun items I have found!

Happy New Year Notebook Readers! Sorry for my lack of posts over the vaca...I was soaking in as much rest and relaxation as possible before 2012 hit...busy busy schedule ahead, but all fun projects!
