Hanging art!

I purchased this amazing print from Maggie O'Neill over at O'Neill Studios a couple months back and it has been leaning on my dresser. I decided I wanted to bring it into the living room. I just created a new seating area in the living after finding these club chairs(that clearly need a paint and reupholster job...more pics of that project to come) so I wanted hang this piece of art work as the focal point.

I also wanted to hang it without breaking the bank! I used black grosgrain ribbon some moving tape, which I find super strong, and voila...

I'm excited to spruce up the space...I plan on replacing the curtains with cream linen drapery panels detailed with white grosgrain herringbone trim. As well as painting ans reupholstering the chairs...I'm thinking black with navy fabric.

As you can see I hung the print on the center of the window frame. Unexpected and unique!

Friday Finds...

Hey Notebook readers! Happy Friday! Hope everyone is geared up for the weekend! I sure am!

Today's Friday Find's is a project I completed for Capitale, a lounge in downtown DC. Check out the before and afters!

Love how it turned out! I created openings behind the box pleat for easy access to storage. The box pleat gives the skirt a clean line while maintaining the unique creative pattern of the fabric!

Happy Sewing Projects! Better yet...happy Friday again!

Saved by the paint!

This amazing china cabinet was featured last week as one of my latest rehab project.s It was a doozy just because of its size, but I think it has turned out beautifully. Once again a coat of paint or two can do wonders to your old furniture!

Check out the progress!

the brown tone to the this cabinet was way too out dated for my client

but the bones were great!

I painted it a bright white and look at the difference!

We saved all the old hardware, which were 4" pulls that are not only hard to find but expensive when you do, and we sprayed them gold! As you can see two original pulls were missing so we are out fitting them with white ones to match the built-in center pulls.

This clients dining room is really starting to come together! I can't wait to share the reveal soon!

I'm back!

Hey Notebook readers! Sorry for the bit of hyadous. We had off from school Monday and Tuesday and I took it as a bit of vacation!

Anyways I stayed busy all weekend...check out this project! One of my clients needed her farmhouse table painted for a photo shoot...

It came out beautiful with a faux bois finish! All you need are these tools!

It is very easy:

1) Apply base coat, which I choose a creamy white
2) Dip wood grain tool into a darker second coat, which I used a pure cream color, and pull the paint tool from one side to another. Remember you can go back over each section to create the perfect faux wood grain affect!

Friday Finds...a yearn for a bigger space!

Hey Hey! Hope everyone is slowly recovering from storm Sandy here on the East Coast! I know many of my friends are heading back to the office and getting back into their daily routine. To celebrate that I am featuring some of my favroaite office spaces!

Boy and I are excited about our future and starting our family! We plan on moving into a house soon and I am THRILLED at this idea. My dream is to have my own office and large work space! Enough to unroll a bolt of fabric and organize all my goodies!

Check out my inspiration spaces!

every girls gotta dream! It may not be as big and as amazing as some of these spaces but I'll have a space to call my own!

and bigger then mine now!

(this picture is when I first completed my work space...now the expedit shelving unit is stuff filled with fabrics, my sewing machine, threads are all over the place! This picture does no justice for my need of space)

China Cabinet Rehab!

I hope all my readers are safe and dry this morning...the calm after the storm has now hit DC. We are back at work with small power outages and fallen trees. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in NY & NJ!

To bring it back this week I'm writing about this old 70's style china cabinet I rehabbed on Saturday. It has many unique lines and details on the face of the drawer and cabinets. Check out the before and afters...more details like the backsplash of the upper cabinet and the pulls will be revealed later on!

So Notebook readers if you have a fav old piece and hate the look of it...remember a fresh coat of paint can go a long way! As seen above! Love the white clean look now!

Friday Finds...Barn Yard Thrifting!

As some of you may have read at the beginning of the weeks went to a barn yard sale last weekend in Deep Creek Lake, MD. So many fun and unique items... So this Friday Finds features some new additions to the apartment!

Some miners lamps give an ode to boy's West Virgina days! $12 each!

I'm obsessed with this $15 find! An old surveying tripod will make the perfect base for a new floor lamp...just add a light kits and a drum lamp and ou have a brand new light fixture for your home! Best part is that the adjustable legs are in mint condition! This has to be my favorite!

Love this old scale! It's hanging in the kitchen but will be finding a new home in boy's mothers kitchen! It will be the perfect addition! Don't mind the dishes!

Happy Friday Notebook Readers!
