Creating warmth in your bedroom!

I have made a couple headboards in my day and they are a great DIY project for sprucing up any bedroom! Here is the headboard I made for my king...Creating your own headboard is an easy one...measure out the size of your bed, then purchase a piece of plywood cut to the width of your bed frame, after that choose a design for your headboard(see above), then purchase foam(which you can purchase at your local fabric store) that you will cut the same shape of the wood plywood design, spray adhesive the foam, wrap that with batting, and finally wrap the headboard in the fabric of your choice and staple gun!!!

I added piping along the edges of my headboard with a glue gun and it gave a great touch to the final project. Have fun and be creative.

Any comments/questions email mcnamaradesign@gmail.com

Here are a couple pictures of my headboard during Christmas...I added some wreaths above either side of the bed to add some Christmas spirit in the bedroom!!!

Happy New Work Space!

Some of you may have read that I had decided to of turn my dining room into a work space. I had previously turned the closet in my DC apartment into a small quaint work space but even with all the bright colors I tried to add...it just wasn't doing me any good. So I turned to a space I hadn't really been using all to much except for acting as a server at parties...so the dining room is no longer...

Happy New Work Space!

the old closet work space...good bye!

Starting with an Ikea Expedit for only $40 this is an inexpensive way to add a storage unit to any work space...I didn't add the top so my desktop could be at proper height...

topped the storage unit with a $25 door from Home Depot...this is a natural surface that can easily be painted

added L-Brackets to support all my crap and some dancing

here is the cabinet across from the new work space that I plan to work into the new digs...i am loving its character in this space

two coats of white paint was a must for the natural wood surface

Inspiration!

So I choose this scrapebook paper as the inspiration for my desktop...a lot of measuring and stenciling and taping are ahead

stenciling and measuring and frustration

so thankful of my boy to help

took a much needed break from measuring and added some art paper to the shelves...you will be surprised what a little spray adhesive and some art paper will do to brighten your space

loving it

taping begins

Benjamin Moore's Old Navy interior paint was the bold classic color I was looking for to add to the desktop

its coming together

Benjamin Moore Peony for a little touch

and the cabinet is all cleaned up

take a peak of the peony here

my dining room chairs are a match made for the new work space

I decided to ditch a partition of the Expedit Storage Unit to house my printer

Added two coats of Polyurethane...I recommend not spraying it in the dead of winter when you can't crack any windows...bad idea

a touch of accessories and I am ready to work with a lot more space!
