Glitter!

Love this idea...and so simple! My little sis is getting married in November and her colors and black, white, and gold...these DIY candle sticks are a must have for her big affair!

Dollar store candle stick holders, painted with Elmer's glue and sprinkled with glitter!

You could do any color glitter to match your occasion, dinner party, or bash!

even an old thrift store brass find would do the trick too!

Cover it Up!

I'm so excited to start this trunk today for the DC Design House that benefits Children's Hospital! This old trunk is a goodies! Great for storage at the foot of your bed or behind a couch in your living room.

I was originally going to cover it in fabric or wallpaper but everything we liked was a bit pricey...until we found the perfect solution...a window panel from IKEA!

It's inexpensive, provides texture, and brings in that gray tone into the bedroom!

Here is the roll window panel from IKEA for $14.99! Before and After pics coming this week!

check out the other trunks I found that have been wrapped in alternate materials!

Shop Around!

I've been on the hunt for some pink fabric for the wedding runners and I came across this Robert Allen raspberry lattice bamboo print...after searching multiple sites I just find it incredible how much these companies prices vary for a yard of fabric...ridic in my mind!

so remember Notebook readers to shop around before you commit to one online fabric source!!!

Two is better then one

Hey Notebook Readers!

Saw this pic and absolutely love the green desk, but by looking closer it is actually two smaller desks paired together to create one long sleek work space.

By pairing two like items together most of the time gives big implact on a smaller budget!

Put your feet up and relax!

I found this foot stool last year at a thrift store for $5. I recovered it with burlap but recently it got a bit tattered. Boy uses it everyday to post up after a long days work so for an early Valentine's Day gift I recovered again last night with a bit of a twist from last time...check it out!

old and tattered

the older fabric which you can clearly now see was not much my style

using a utility knife I cut all the excess fabric and foam off

leaving me with a fresh piece of plywood

I add new foam which I sprayed adhesive to attach to the plywood

I laid the burlap over the stool and cut the excess off

then I measured how much black fabric I would need to create a geometric pattern on the top of the foot stool

using orange thread I sewed the balck ribbon on to add a bit of a touch

lookin good!

I then used my staple gun to secure the burlap to the bottom base of the stool

Final product!

Happy DIYing Notebook Readers!

Now all I need to do is paint and reupholster the new club chairs as well as replace the window panels! More to come from the apartment of Boy and I!
