Weekend Wrap Up!

Hey Morning People! Hope everyone had a great weekend full of fun and relaxation! I had a busy but a blast filled one. Check it out!

Friday Night downtown on 14th street checking out some live music at the Black Cat! Such a fun & lively night!

Boy and I took a trip to the dump clearing out the final demo from the studio! It is really coming together! I failed to take pictures of this but I forgot how crazy going to the dump is...and not to sound crazy but you can find some goodies while there...I found a small children's rocker that will be a fun rehab project!

Saturday evening my girlfriend Lacy and I had a crafting session outside...we took oysters, plastic chain, and fishing wire to tie the oysters along the chain creating a beautiful garland for her weekending this coming weekend!

we drilled the holes at the top of the oysters to make a unified affect once tied

any fishing wire will do!

I'm just in love with these candle stick holders Lacy brought out! These are the champ bottles from her bachelorette party! All she did was add some gold candle sticks!

The lighting is bad in this pic but here is the oyster garland I made! Each one took about three hours for a three feet in length

Saturday night we headed over to a friends apt in Glover Park, our neighborhood in DC! Fall firepit time was in full swing!

Sunday Boy and I headed to my parents house and packed the van with furniture heading to the studio to be beautified this week!

ahhhh what a weekend! So happy  could end it with my Boy, on the couch, with wings, pulled pork sandwiches, and a Redskins win!!

Now off to the studio to paint away ALL day long!

Happy Monday people...we got this!!!

Friday Finds...an amazing client & friend!

So on Fridays I usually highlight another small business I love or something cool I found but today I'd like to feature a client and friend who is always looking out for McNamara Design! Her name is Sam. Her husband and her live right around the corner from Boy and I but more importantly she has a KILLER eye on craigslist. If she sees something she loves but doesn't need she always forwards it on. From peacock chairs to rattan furniture her taste and style is impeccable.

As an owner of a small business it is great to have someone looking out for you as a client or as a friend! So last night Sam texted me about a side table she had and no longer has use for in her home...so she freebied it to me! Love her. Love passing forward...so thank you Sam!

Check out how adorable this table is!!

I'm thinking this will be an amazing piece for the studio! What color would you paint it? I'm thinking something bold & bright! More after pictures to come!

HAPPY FRIDAY PEOPLE! Get out there and enjoy each other!

I'm Obessed!

Morning Notebook Readers! I hope everyone is getting through their work week! I have been working tirelessly at the studio prepping, painting, and beautifying the space. Today I wanted to share an amazing idea that not only gives a pop of color to an unexpected area of your home but also gives your space more character!

 Neon-door

Love It! Adding a slight trim to the inside of your interior door. The color contrast here of black, white, and a slight neon pink for a bold punch! I think the bathroom door at the studio will be seeing some color this week!

And how inexpensive of an upgrade for any door Tip: Purchase a sample size of any color for under $5 to complete this project!

Happy DIYing People!

Lay All Down!

Last night Boy and I installed laminate flooring in the studio space. It is called Alpine Elm from Allure. Love the sleek look to this flooring and how light it appears once placed together..

TrafficMaster Allure Alpine Elm Resilient Vinyl Plank Flooring - 4 in. x 4 in. Take Home Sample

check out the before and afters of the kitchen!

What a difference! I'm excited to see the finishing touches of the molding we are adding today! And can you believe that the sink base was peach before! I added a coat of prime/paint semi gloss black! Looks like a beauty in its new color!

Weekend Wrap Up!

What a weekend I had! I am just adjusting back to the work week. UGH Mondays!

Friday I was happy to spend some time with my friend Danny and his little sister who was in town from LA.

Saturday was such a fun day celebrating my little sisters upcoming marriage in November! We had a great shower for her in Washington! So much fun!

And Sunday get out town my hubs surprised me with tickets to the Skins game, not that it was a good game, but it was so nice to spend some quality time together..just the two of us!

And the cherry on top if this weekends cake would have to be my studio space was painted! Bless Nacho and his crew who worked long hours all weekend to get the job done!

To the Floor!

I was at a client house last night helping consult her with a hitch she wants painted and we got into gallery walls. She wants to run the gallery all the way up the wall and I said well if you don't have kids that will pull them down go for it!

Check out this pic that exhibits the floor to door frame gallery!

How to Create the Perfect Gallery Wall | Rue | framed & matted

As for the picture frames...I have both kinds of gallery walls in our home. All gold mix and match sized gallery as well as an eclectic mix of different frames. I love both and I think specific spots in a persons home calls for both!

What kind of gallery wall do you like?

HAPPY WEDNESDAY PEOPLE!!!

Tarva Ta Da!

Hey Notebook Readers! Hope all is well today! I'm excited to share a new project! A client has asked me to turn the IKEA Tarva dresser, which sells for $149 into a totally different piece. Check it out!

we all know IKEA pieces can be a pain but my one piece of advise is to TAKE YOUR TIME when putting it together...one wrong direction and you will be kicking yourself at the end

once the frame was put together I begun staining it a walnut gel stain that is easily applied with a foam brush...let set and apply second coat if you want it darker. With most natural woods a second coat is necessary because the wood will really suck up the stain!

Remember to brush the stain on in the direction of the wood grain too!

After putting all the drawers together I painted them a high gloss white

here is a sneak peak of the final product...I'm still waiting for the gold ring pulls to get in and the piece will complete...and AMAZING!
