Gallery for your home

I was hired to create a gallery wall recently using old family photos. The client wanted to use old barn wood frames that I white washed. Here are some of the before and after pictures. I used a random pattern to space the frames allowing it to be more eclectic and not traditional.

laying out the frames prior to hanging gives you an opportunity to play around with the gallery layout

Friday Finds...repurposed items!

I love the idea of repurposing items to create impact, add texture, and put your space apart from others!

String it together!

I have been seeing string art pop up everywhere...I love the 2-D effect and it is such a simple DIY project! I saw this image and thought how fun it would be to create your address plack with some neon fishing string that could sustain the elements!

Lookin for some stencils!

I am gearing up to paint some furniture to place on sale and I want to use a new stencil on this mini amour

which stencil do you like best?

not only is this stencil going to be used on this mini armoir but I think I'm going to rock it as an accent wall in my bedroom! The stencils are large which cuts back on some of the work but it is still a very timely process..its all worth it for the end result!

Creating a Frame!

I posted last week about these barn wood frames I found off Etsy for a client wanting to create a gallery wall. They were a natural wood but I sprayed them a light pass of white. They turned out great but the frames did not have any of the hardware together...here's a step by step to finishing a frame!

here is the white washed frame

the finished back

have the correct size glass cut

cut out your picture

(My client had all these old photographs of her family that she wanted to re size in black and white...I went up to Kinko's and copied them to the correct size...I copied all the pictures for under $5)

center the frame bracket

nail in the bracket

place cardboard behind the photo

I used glazier points to hold the glass, picture, and cardboard

(glazier points only cost $2 for about 50)

using a putty knife I pushed the glazier points into the side of the picture frame

hang and enjoy!

I can't wait to move into a house and have the space to have a formal dining room for entertainment. I've always liked the dining room chair look with an added bench for seating. Here's a couple I'm obsessed with! The upholstered kitchen island bench seat is a phenomenal idea to add character to the heart of your home!

A little white wash

I recently was hired to complete a gallery wall of these amazing handmade wooden frames I found off Etsy. The guy makes them out of old barn wood and does a really nice job. They came with their natural finish, which I like but these frames needed a little white wash...check out the before and after. I love both to tell you the truth!
