Friday Finds...SoCo Events

I would like to welcome Jen to this weeks Friday Finds! She is an event planner in the Dc area and is doing the wedding I am attending this weekend in Rehobeth, DE. This feature on her blog is of a bride who had an artist come in and complete a live painting at her wedding! And the artist is the one and only Maggie O'Neill who's wedding is this weekend...Can't wait to share pics on Monday!!! It is going to fabulous!

The Art of Weddings

Today I had the pleasure of seeing one of my favorite vendors perform her magic after the wedding. Maggie O'Neill, owner of O'Neill Studios hand delivered recent client (and SoCo planner extraordinaire), Bridget Reed Newby, her wedding masterpiece. We commissioned Maggie to do live painting during Bridget and Frank's rooftop extravaganza at The Hay Adams Hotel this past May. Bridget and Maggie discussed the work of art prior to the wedding, and together they decided that the bridal party, the view, and of course the happy couple would be the focus of the painting.

Not only did Bridget hire Maggie to create a timeless work of art to capture her wedding, but also entertain guests. Guests were in awe of Maggie and her amazing talent...who wouldn't be?!?!?!

So, I was beyond excited to go to Bridget and Frank's to see the finished product, and it was better than I imagined it would be!

The finished masterpiece...I just love it!

Close up shot, can't believe the Monument, White House and Jefferson Memorial were all capture along with the beautiful bridal party!

Maggie is not only a talented artist, but my client for her June 2011wedding! I cannot wait to see what we pull off for her wedding. All I can say is she has mentioned custom made furniture, painting her own bridesmaid dresses and tonight said, "I wish the guests would have costume changes!!!". It is going to be in the words of Rachel Zoe, "BANANAS!!!".

xoxo, Jen

Tan White and Navy 14x14 Picture Frame for 5x5 Photo

The frame of the day is is adorable I love the stripes! The foto of the day is of my best friend, Claire's older brother who is like my brother and his girlfriend Megan. This is from David's crab feast b-day dinner! That's what Maryland does!

Baby Baby Sweet Baby

Love doing nurseries! And I'm so excited to be doing one of my really good girlfriend and her husband's first babies room! Here is the edesign board so far!

I am rehabing an old dresser of theirs to be the babies changing table. We are going to rock a white and yellow horizontal stripes with navy pulls as the rehab!

We are also doing a DIY project to complete the babies initials above the crib...as seen here on the board. The H above the crib is painted on burlap...I will be painting in navy the babies initials framed in white inexpensive frames...so instead of paying $20 each for the letters on ETSY the project will cost us $20 total!!!

Ikea Dresser Rehab

After rehabbing my bedroom there was still one more piece to refinish...my old IKEA Hermes dresser in the brown/black finish. I used liquid sander/deglosser and began my painting project with my very own spray gun! So excited about this purchase...not only will I be able to complete projects at home but can travel anywhere with it!

Here is my air compressor but I think it may have to go back to Home Depot bc it just doesnt have enough pressure...we shall see

I love the black frames, which I am happy to say I have a bunch of so no need to go and purchase! And the prints themshelves are $10 and if you buy 3 you get one free! So $30 will go a long way to change up this space!
